This privacy policy is substantively complete, but the cookie-consent banner for Matomo hasn't been implemented yet (see Phase 9 in the project plan) — Matomo must not be switched on until the banner is live. The German Datenschutzerklärung is the legally authoritative version.

This website is hosted by netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, D-76131 Karlsruhe, Germany. When you visit the site, your browser automatically transmits information that is stored in server log files (including IP address, date and time of the request, amount of data transferred, browser type). The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing a functional and secure website.

Content Delivery Network (CDN)

Static assets (images, scripts, stylesheets) are delivered via BunnyCDN's content delivery network (cdn.lars-gaudian.com) to make the site load faster. This involves transmitting your IP address to the CDN provider's servers. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in fast, reliable delivery of the website.

Contact form

Using the contact form processes the data you submit (name, email, message) solely to handle your inquiry — it is not shared with third parties.

Cloudflare Turnstile

To protect the contact form against automated access (bots), we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a service provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Turnstile checks technical characteristics of your visit in the background (including IP address and browser/device information), typically without requiring you to solve a visible captcha. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in protecting the website against abuse and automated spam submissions. More information is available inCloudflare's privacy policy.

Web Analytics with Matomo

This website uses the self-hosted web analytics service Matomo to understand how visitors use the site (e.g. pages viewed, time spent, links clicked). Your IP address is anonymized; anonymized data is stored for 90 days. Matomo is only used with your consent, which you give via the cookie notice and can revoke or adjust at any time via the corresponding link in the footer. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Your Rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding our processing of your personal data.
